Zip Lines in Morocco: Which Ones You Can Enjoy on Your Trip

Adventure tourism lovers and fun may be wondering: are there zip lines in Morocco? And the answer is: “Yes!” This activity, which is a real adrenaline rush is present in some of the most popular tourist destinations, positioning itself as an interesting proposal to include in the travel program. If that’s your case, take note of the options we give you here… and they are not the only ones.

Marrakech and the nearby High Atlas

In Marrakech, some of the main zip lines in Morocco converge, for two reasons: on the one hand, it is the largest tourist destination in the country and, on the other, it is very close to the High Atlas, the mountain range with the highest mountains in the country, with spectacular valleys conducive to implementing an experience of this type.

One of the most popular options among Marrakech residents themselves is Terres d’Amanar: it is an adventure park about 40 km south of Marrakech, located at the foot of the High Atlas, at about 1,200 meters above sea level. This site has an ‘aerial park’ type area, with cable bridges, elevated attractions and, of course, four zip lines. The longest is about 450 meters.

Hercules Park, in Tangier

Near Tangier, about 15 km to the south, in the so-called Hercules Adventure Park you will find three zip lines with very different characteristics. A small one, designed for children and people who want to start in this type of aerial descent. Another 300 meters long, for adventurers from 12 years old. And the third and most spectacular, called Super-Zip, almost 400 meters long and two parallel cables to descend simultaneously with another person. According to park data, it can reach 120 km/h. In addition to these three zip lines, the park has many other activities, both aerial and land-based (paintball, climbing, controlled free fall, etc.), making it one of the best leisure options for the whole family.

Akchour, the Rif zip line

Although there are not many zip lines in Rif, you will find one in a very special place: next to the Akchour waterfalls, in the Talassemtane National Park, about 30 km from Chaouen. It is true that it is not especially long, but the fact of crossing this natural space through the air already makes it a different experience. In addition, in the surroundings of these waterfalls there are beach bars and numerous hiking trails, so a day trip to this place has many added attractions, especially for travelers who move as a family.

Agadir: a zip line among crocodiles

Finally, if we move south, you will find the wildest of the zip lines in Morocco: the one in Agadir. And we call it that because its aerial route passes over real crocodiles. In fact, it is located in the so-called Crocoparc, a zoological park where the most iconic animals are precisely crocodiles, although they also have other reptiles in their care, such as iguanas.

The aforementioned zip line crosses the pond in which some of the 300 Nile crocodiles (Crocodylus niloticus) that they care for in this enclosure are located. And although the park itself reports that this species “is not potentially man-eating”, the size of the specimens visible here inspires respect, at the very least, since some measure more than 6 meters in length.

The enclosure is also conceived as a botanical garden, full of plants from different bioclimatic regions: desert, tropical, etc. So flying over the crocodile pond is also an opportunity to contemplate (if you overcome your fear) this plant mosaic from above.
